Barbara Snaith (2011-2013)
Barbara is currently the Administrative Assistant to the Chair of the Chemistry Department at the University of Rochester, where she is also the Administrator for incoming new Research Postdoctoral Associates. Previously, she supported the Director for the Center of Musculoskeletal Research in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester’s Medical Center.
In April 2011, she was the recipient of the Staff Community Service Award from the University of Rochester for all her participation in volunteering and fundraising for over 20 years in the Long Island, New York City and Rochester areas.
Her networking led her to interview with Eastman Kodak Company where she started working in January 2000 until 2006 as the Executive Assistant to the Director of World Wide Learning and Development. While at Kodak, Barbara was invited to join the Board of Directors of the Women’s Forum of Kodak Employees (WFKE) as well as being their volunteer coordinator for all their events.
From 1980 to 1999 in the Long Island and New York City areas where she lived and worked, she found that she loved volunteering for The Starlight Children’s Foundation granting over 85 wishes for critically, chronically and terminally ill children. She moved back to Rochester in August 1999 where she continued her volunteer and fundraising efforts with The Humane Society at Lollypop Farm and several other non-profit organizations in the Rochester area.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoys raising money for things she is passionate about, animals and specific causes, as well as socializing and going to GEVA theatre with her good friends. She is a very active member of her church, chairing fundraisers and women’s events as well as leading committees. She lives in Gates with her adorable white cat named Snowball!
A member since April 2010, Barbara is very happy to be given the opportunity to be part of the IAAP Flower City Chapter as their Program Chair utilizing her educational resources. She hopes that she has brought in some interesting speakers for the members to learn from and enjoy! In June 2011, Barbara was elected to the Board of Directors.
